(Guide) Preserve Baseband For iOS 6 While Upgrading to iOS 6 For iPhone 4 & iPhone 3GS

This guide will show you how to preserve the baseband while upgrading to iOS 6. The reason you might want to preserve your baseband while upgrading to iOS 6 is because a lower baseband can easily be unlocked compared to higher basebands. Currently we have Ultrasnow fixer for iOS 6 that will unlock your iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS for free!
There are no disadvantages of preserving baseband while upgrading so folks go ahead and preserve baseband for iOS 6 using this guide.

Upgrade iOS 6 With Preserved Baseband

The new version of redsnow allows you to “restore while preserving baseband”. Which basically means that you will upgrade to a new firmware with the previous baseband, which is obviously a great think. So lets being on the guide to preserve baseband for iOS 6.

Download Redsnow 0.9.15b2
Download iOS 6 for iPhone 4/3GS.
STEP 1: Download redsnow 0.9.15b2 from the above link and run it.
STEP 2: Now head over to Extras > Even More > Restore
STEP 3: Now simply click IPSW. 
Note: We are actually restoring our device but in fact restoring to the same firmware, we are restoring to a new version of the firmware. This way redsnow can prevent baseband from being upgraded.
STEP 4: Now you will need to select the IPSW file for your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS, by downloading from the above link.
STEP 5: Once selected redsnow will tell you that it can modify and prevent baseband from being upgraded. Simply click on “yes”.

STEP 6: Now you will be required to put your device into DFU mood. If you know how to put iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS in DFU mood, do so now. If you don’t simply follow the on screen instructions.
STEP 7: Once your device is in DFU mood. It will start restoring to iOS 6 but preserving the baseband.
STEP 8: Simply wait until the process is complete. Once done it show a message saying your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS has been restored to iOS 6.

Your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS will now be running iOS 6 but with a preserve baseband. If you have one of those Ultrasnow unlock-able basebands, download Ultrasnow and get your iPhone unlocked on iOS 6!
